Our family trip to Paris in November 2019 was filled with unforgettable moments, and one of the highlights was visiting the Arc de Triomphe. Located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, this monumental arch is one of the most famous landmarks in France.

This day was even more special – it was Andreea’s anniversary. Celebrating her birthday in Paris, standing in front of such an iconic monument, made the moment truly memorable. The autumn air was crisp, the trees were golden, and our family shared smiles, laughter, and warm wishes.

The Arc de Triomphe honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of battles and generals inscribed across its massive stone surface. Beneath it lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a solemn reminder of history and sacrifice.

Travel Tips for Visiting the Arc de Triomphe in November

  • Best photo spots: Take selfies from the Champs-Élysées side or capture the full monument from Place Charles de Gaulle.
  • Dress warmly: November in Paris is chilly, so coats and scarves are a must.
  • Climb to the top: The view over the Champs-Élysées and Paris skyline is breathtaking.
  • Evening visit: The arch looks especially beautiful when illuminated at night.

For us, it wasn’t just a monument – it was a place where we celebrated family and love, marking Andreea’s anniversary in a city full of history and beauty.
